Tip 1: Eat Pumpkins.
Everyone knows that fall is the season for pumpkins, pies, and jack-o-lanterns. Did you know that the pulp of pumpkins is filled with vitamin A and C? Pumpkin carving is always fun, but the benefits of indulging pumpkins make it even more fun!
Tip 2: Get your flu shot!
The fall season is also known for the passing around of the FLU. Who wants to be stuck home for a week with a fever and feeling extremely ill? The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention even say that the best way to prevent the flu is to get the flu vaccine. BTW, the vaccine cannot give you the flu.
Tip 3: Go outside.
With the beautiful leaves and change in nature, who would want to miss out on the gorgeous scenery. The great thing about going outside in the fall is the perfect weather. It's not humid and hot like the summer, it's just at the right temperature with a good breeze. Besides enjoying the breath of fresh air and scenery, being outside will increase your vitamin D levels which will help with your concentration and make you feel cheerful.
Tip 4: Steer clear of the Halloween candy.
You don't have to avoid EVERY piece of candy that you have, but don't go crazy with the sugar. A great strategy to deal with Halloween is to buy only enough for the trick-or-treaters. When buying candy, also wait until the day of so you don't have to think about the chocolate you could be eating right now.
Tip 5: A healthier Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving day is the time where you can go out on all your favorite meals. On Thanksgiving, it is common to eat large portions than you normally do and this can affect your plan to a healthier life. Worry not, you can start the day with a light protein and fiber meal to boost your metabolism and reduce cravings, and then instead of taking large portions of every food that is available to you, take smaller portions on your plate. Think about what you feel you can live without and what you really need, or want.
